KITCHEN COMPANY

Staining kitchen cabinets used to be the standard of kitchen cabinets so its now a classic look but still beautiful depending on your home style. Some people opt in for stained kitchen islands and have butcher block counter tops to go with the classic look.  There are many different styles of stain to choose from, all showcasing the richness of the wood and also adding in depth to your cabinets. We highly recommend glazing or antiquing the stained wood to give it the extra modern look since all old school stained cabinets rarely had this decorative additions to there cabinets. More on decorative options on services page (glazing).  Staining options go from a light stain - Least Preferred, to a darker stain - Most advised. The reason being is darker stains show the wood grain more than lighter stains but the choice is yours!

CAN YOU STAIN PAINTED CABINETS?
Of course you can. There are a couple of routes different companies take when doing this. No right or wrong the only difference is the finish look. Some companies will just strip and sand you cabinets back to bear wood but that process is very time consuming and expensive. Our method includes painting your cabinets with a very unique paint that allows us to actually stain the paint to any desired stain you want. This means, no striping, no sanding, faster project delivery, and more affordable.  All of the products we use have been tested and proven to help your kitchen withstand all the abuse it gets. Most people don't realize that your kitchen cabinets take a lot of abuse. Heat and humidity from your appliances are always around the cabinets. Hot cooking oil hitting the cabinets. Cabinets are made of wood, and wood shrinks or expands when hot or cold. If you put a product that cannot handle cabinet expansion than guess what, it will peel, crack, and chip. That's why you need to have the right products and steps to stain your cabinets.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT KITCHEN CABINET REFINISHING TEAM.
We know that choosing a team is very overwhelming, with every company promising results, claiming they are the best and better than everyone out there. Lets be honest here, all professional cabinet refinishing teams are great at what they do. Differences if any will be very minor. The problem is choosing an inexperienced team to do it with the wrong products and steps. So choosing the right team in most cases comes down to them showing results first before you sign any contract. We handle this by having cabinet samples to show our customer how there cabinets will look, feel, and withstand chemicals. That's how we show you first hand what we are all about. Somebody can say they know, and claim all theses different things but without something to prove, these words don't mean anything. So we advice you to request samples before choosing somebody, because nowadays, even testimonials can be forged.

OVERVIEW OF CORRECTLY STAINING CABINETS
Staining cabinets on bear wood has very little room for error. You simply apply the stain of the desired color until color is reached, wipe off the excess by following manufactures steps and then applying your sealer and or going straight to clear coat. Where things for inexperienced and impatient refinishers might fail at would be having different toned cabinets here and there because they rushed a job and didn't wait for stain to penetrate wood. Or they are handling the cabinets with there bear hands leaving finger makes behind. There are simple steps to take when staining but if you don't follow them because your either rushing or are inexperienced than the cabinets wont look good.

OUR PROFESSIONAL 5 STEP RAW CABINET STAINING PROCESS.

OUR PROFESSIONAL 5 STEPS TO STAIN PAINTED CABINETS.

STEP 1: The FIRST STEP IN OUR CABINET STAINING PROCESS IS TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN YOUR CABINETS. WE FIRST NEED TO REMOVE ALL OILS, AND STAINS THAT HAS ACCUMULATED OVER THE YEARS ON YOUR CABINETS. THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE IT GIVES US A CLEAN FOUNDATION FROM WHICH THE STAIN WILL BE ABLE TO PENETRATE. WE NEED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF STAINING BECAUSE THE OILS FROM OUR HANDS WILL CAUSE THE STAIN TO DISCOLOR UNEVENLY WHERE WE TOUCHED, PRIOR TO STAINING.

STEP 2: THE SECOND STEP IN OUR CABINET STAINING PROCESS IS TO LIGHTLY SAND THE CABINETS MAKING SURE NO GRAIN IS STICKING OUT, THIS PROVIDES A SMOOTHER SURFACE FOR OUR END RESULT.

STEP 3: OUR THIRD STEP TO STAINING IS WHERE ALL THE MESS BEGINS. WE BEGIN BY STAINING THE CABINETS WITH OUR STAIN AND ONE BY ONE REMOVE THE STAIN WITH A LINT FREE  CLOTH. IT'S A VERY TEDIOUS PROCESS BUT THE RIGHT STEPS MUST BE TAKEN.

STEP 4: OUR FOURTH STEP IN THE CABINET PAINTING PROCESS IS TO EITHER ADD THE GLAZE AND OR PROCEED WITH THE CLEAR COAT. TYPICALLY ALL OF OUR CABINET STAINING JOBS ARE FINISHED WITH A BRUSH BUT WE ALSO USE A SPRAYER FOR THE CLEAR COAT AS WELL.

STEP 5: WE FINALLY LET EVERYTHING DRY AND REHANG THE DOORS AND CLEAN EVERYTHING UP.
STEP 1: The FIRST STEP IN OUR CABINET STAINING & PAINTING PROCESS IS TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN YOUR CABINETS. LIKE ALWAYS WE NEED A CLEAN FOUNDATION. WE FIRST NEED TO REMOVE ALL OILS, AND STAINS THAT HAS ACCUMULATED OVER THE YEARS ON YOUR CABINETS.

STEP 2: THE SECOND STEP TO REFINISHING YOUR CABINETS IS TO MAKE SURE ALL AREAS ARE COVERED. THIS MEANS YOUR APPLIANCES, YOUR FLOOR, THE CEILINGS, WALLS, FIXTURES, COUNTER-TOPS, BACKSPLASH, ETC. WE HAVE TO MASK OFF THE ENTIRE AREA SO THAT NO PAINT CAN ESCAPE. THIS ALSO MINIMIZES THE SMELL OF PAINT THROUGHOUT THE HOME.

STEP 3: OUR THIRD STEP TO STAINING IS WHERE ALL THE FUN BEGINS. WE START APPLYING PRIMER TO ALL THE SURFACES. THE PRIMER WE USE IS ACTUALLY STAINABLE SO WE CAN STAIN YOUR PAINTED CABINETS WITH NO SANDING AND NO STRIPPING OF THE CABINETS.

STEP 4: OUR FOURTH STEP IN THE CABINET STAINING PROCESS IS APPLYING THE DESIRED STAIN COLOR. BEFORE THIS STEP WE DO A LIGHT SCUFF SAND THROUGHOUT THE PRIMED SURFACE SO THAT WE ARE WORKING ON A CONTINUOUSLY SMOOTH SURFACE. ONCE WE APPLY THE STAIN, WE GENERALLY WAIT 3 MINUTES FOR THE STAIN TO PENETRATE AND THEN WIPE OFF THE EXCESS.

STEP 5: AFTER DESIRED COLOR IS ACHIEVED, WE GIVE IT ONE FINAL SCUFF AND GIVE IT THE GLAZE LOOK OR FINISH OFF WITH THE TOP PROTECTIVE CLEAR COAT.
